Programming can be tough. Real tough. Everybody knows this, even if they haven’t tried. So it can be extremely intimidating going into you’re fist few programming courses if you’ve never learned how to write code before. But don’t worry – I’m going to give you some tips to help relieve that anxiety, and help you become a great programmer by the end of the foundation building, CS 1101, Programming Fundamentals.
It’s New Years’ Eve for me, and already the new year for some. 2015 was a crazy year for me, I honestly can’t believe it’s already over. I pulled off a few things I wasn’t sure would happen this year, and I’m so thankful all of it. I want to take the time to recap on what’s happened in the last year, and finish this post off with some New Year’s resolutions!
Notes, notes, notes and more notes. Now that week 5 is under wraps it’s time for final preparations for the 2nd graded quiz of the term. I’ve switched up a few things in my routine since I first started here. Mainly I stopped using my laptop for notes as much, and have reverted to the old fashioned pen and paper.
Things have been going really good both at school, work and at home – considering our whole household is trading colds. I just got a 6 week extension on my contract at Khan Academy, despite my struggle to keep up, my grades at school are good, and I’ve been getting better at making time for my wife and son in the evening.
This unit in CS1103 was all about Abstract Data Types. Between visiting the US for Thanksgiving, work, and school, I just barely had enough time to write my graded quiz for the week. Now that I’m caught up and have about 30 min left till I start work, I’m going to try to hash out this week’s learning journal!
Another week at UoPeople finished! This week was challenging but it was a lot of fun too. Our assignment is worth turning into a real app too, I swear. It was a very busy week but I managed to pull through, mainly thanks to my wife for picking up my slack.
First week of my new course at UoPeople and wow, has the course load changed! I’m really glad I’m sticking to just one course per term now, because there is just so much to learn in CS1103 that I’d hate to not be able to take it all in.
The weekend before last I wrote my final exam for the term. It’s a really big load off my shoulders to be done. I desperately needed the break, just so my brain could rest and I could get caught up with other things in life. Now that I’m all rested up and ready for next term, I finally have a chance to post this review.
I know… I’m late on this week’s post – technically last week’s post now 🙁 But here’s my learning journal anyways – better late than never 🙂
This week, has been another busy week, however having my son back at the babysitters has made things a lot easier, and has given me the energy to get extra things done at night after he goes to bed. I’ve been able to stay caught up in school and get back to working on some of my other endeavors.
